Ruth Ann Tensi: Second Grade

I found my love of teaching in High School as I ran a summer camp for my cousins and neighborhood kids. I got my Elementary Education Degree from Maryville College. I taught in Charlotte – Mecklenburg Schools for 10 years, until we moved to Asheville in 1998. I stayed at home raising my 3 children for 8 years before going back to work part time. I was a director of a part – time Preschool Program at Christ United Methodist Church for 6 years. I worked as a part – time assistant at North Buncombe Elementary for 2 years while I renewed my teacher’s certificate. I was hired at Asheville Catholic in 2010 as the kindergarten assistant. The next year I was hired as the Pre-K teacher. After several years, I realized that I was where God wanted me to be. I love being at ACS because I can teach my faith and pray with my students, parents, and peers.

I married my best friend, Steve in 1988. We have 3 adult children. They are an important part of me! We also love our pets and spend a lot of time with them as well. I attend Weaverville United Methodist Church and I am trying to reach my goal of reading the entire Bible. I enjoy being outside and being active. As (almost) empty nesters, Steve and I are looking forward to hiking and traveling together.
