I love teaching Pre-K at ACS, and the primary reasons are the children. Fresh from God and full of love, the four and five year olds teach me something every day. In Pre-K, we learn through play, sensory experience, and individualized attention. Our focus is on kindergarten readiness, social skills, and faith formation. Every child is valued and encouraged to be their best self.
After receiving a BA degree in Journalism and English from UNC-Chapel Hill, I worked in marketing, non-profit education, and city government. But with a growing family, my heart kept coming back to the possibility of teaching. God opened doors for me to complete teacher certification from ECU, after which I taught high school English. After moving to Asheville, I expanded my teacher certifications to K-6. I worked for Asheville City Schools as a Teacher Assistant and 1st grade teacher. When I was hired to teach Pre-k at Asheville Catholic, I was finally home. All six of my children have graduated from this special school, and I am blessed to serve this community as a teacher, alumni parent, volunteer, and strong supporter of Catholic education.
